How do I sta@rt investing in Degiro?
The most convenient way to register an account is via a smartphone. Degiro has a mobile app that can be downloaded from their website. There is no charge for opening an account. When registering, you need to provide:
- Personal information,
- date of birth
- address of residence,
- contact details (telephone number, e-mail)
- bank account number,
- type of employment.
There are several stages of verification: email, telephone number, identity document (photo or scan), address (utility bill) and bank account are checked. The last verification step is the bank account. A verification transfer of EUR 0.01 is made.
Degiro login is similar to other brokers, it is quick, takes no more than ten minutes and does not cause serious difficulties. As a Degiro trader, anyone over the age of 18 with a bank account and a valid ID can register and the customer is automatically given a Basic profile. This can be changed when opening an account or at a later date. The other profiles, Active, Trader and Day Trader, provide more investment opportunities.
How can I make a deposit?
Once you have registered your account, you can make deposits. You must use a bank account that has been verified during registration to make a deposit. The transaction takes place within 2–3 days.
Unfortunately, Degiro does not offer fast transfers, whereas you can speed up your account a bit by using Trustly. The cost is €1. For amounts over €1,000, a transfer through Trustly takes longer — up to 1 working day.
Transfers cannot be made from an account other than the one registered with Degiro. In addition, the platform does not accept transfers through intermediaries: Transferwise, PayPal, Revolut.
