Morocco will face Portugal in the quarterfinals, keeping their World Cup hopes alive. The coach appreciated the crowd’s passionate support during the game.
Morocco has advanced to the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 after defeating Belgium and Canada and winning an exciting match against Spain in the last 16. The Moroccan team of Walid Regragui takes pleasure in being the fourth African country to advance to the quarterfinals in any FIFA match. Ghana previously advanced to the quarterfinals against Cameroon in 1990, Spain in 2002, and Ghana in 2010.
The Moroccan coach Regragui thanked his team’s supporters for being their strength after defeating Spain and urged them to attend the quarterfinals to inspire both the squad and the country. Regragui stated that they are aiming for the sky and won’t give up at this point when discussing their upcoming contests. They will undoubtedly be fierce competitors aiming to win the trophy. Since Regragui took over as coach in August, Morocco has grown stronger and has won seven straight games. However, experts predicted that Portugal can win this game with 1-0.
On this trip to Qatar, however, several Morocco players were injured, notably, fullbacks Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, who suffered a hip injury while carrying a knock. Whereas Centre-back Nayef Aguerd and Romain Saiss also dealt with terrible pain. Regragui stated that they have formed a family here and are confident that their followers will support them.
